From 1.1.2015 the literature work of Scripture Mission merged with that of Soma Biblia. And we are now one big, happy Christian literature family, under the name Soma Biblia Society. The merging has enabled us to reach wider with our literature, and to strengthen the distribution AND the publishing department. To read more about Soma Biblia, check out our wonderful webpage

Welcome to the Scripture Mission compound in Sakina, Arusha

So what do I find if I go to the Scripture Mission compound these days?

Well, first and foremost, the heart of the literature work of Soma Biblia, the Soma Biblia Publishing Department holds office at the Scripture Mission compound. But if you are looking to buy books and Bibles, the Soma Biblia bookshop has moved downtown. You find a map and contact information here: http://www.somabiblia.or.tz/arusha/

The Scripture Mission guesthouse,
with Mount Meru in the back

In our compound you also still find our wonderful guesthouse, accommodating mainly traveling missionaries from NLM, Scripture Mission, DLM and other Christian organisations working in East-Africa. We have four rooms, and altogether 17 beds. Self contained. To book a room or four, send an e-mail to: nlmear.arusha@nlm.no
Or make a phone call to Joakim Ami, the station manager, at +255 784 590 870.

MAF, Hamasa ya Milele, Soma Biblia publishing dept.
and Scripture Mission offices.

At the Scripture Mission compound you also find:
MAF Tanzania head office
The office of FIDA International Tanzania
The office of Hamasa ya Milele

Our compund also holds four family homes: one Tanzanian (the Amis), one Norwegian (the Gihlemoens), one Danish (the Bach-Svendsens) and one Finnish (the Mesiaislehtos).

But still, as confusing as it might be, the compound with its guesthouse and buildings, is still a part of Scripture Mission East Africa, with all its services looking to fulfill the vision "the World for Christ".

Welcome! Karibu! Velkommen!

The first edition of Riziki in 2013 is about the importance of reaching our neighbors.

– If we fail to preach our neighbors the word of God, we will fall into selfishness, writes reverend Christopher Mbuga in Riziki.

Riziki also describes how the nomadic group datooga was left behind when the church in Mbulu started to grow. Today, neighboring congregations and datoogas themselves have started to preach the Gospel to datoogas.

The third edition of Riziki in 2012 is about alcoholism.

Read about the evangelist who was an alcoholic himself, and who is now using his energy in testifying to others.

Haydom Lutheran Hospital in Mbulu is offering treatment and councelling for people with the disease of alcoholism.
– People have to realize that alcohpolism is a disease, and that it is possible to get out of the problems, says Paulo Tango, at Haydom Lutheran Hospital.

Riziki #2 2012 deals with relating to muslims. We are not called to change people's religion, we are called to testify about the gospel.

– Before you go and testify to a muslim, ask yourself: Do I really love this person?

Does humble leadership still exist?

If the respect of the pastor is so big that people fear to seek advice, we have moved far away from the example set by Jesus. He gave us a fantastic ideal when he washed the feet of his disciples. Do we understand what he did?
